The shell
The design of the shell ensures the maximum lateral support while providing optimal forward flex. The shell is constructed of high quality polymer which is injected around a carbon reinforced POWERCORE that makes the shell very rigid and very light. Rigidity is essential for torsion control in the boot which allows better control of the skate and a superior level of comfort.
Instep straps
TECNICA skates have buckles attached to a band that attaches to the shell in a biomechanically advantageous location. This allows the shell to close around the foot without creating a pressure point and also self-adjusts for instep height. These straps help ensure full comfort closure with greater sensitivity for better skate control.
The cuff
The cuff is the upper half of the outer shell. It is made of the same high quality polymer that the shell is made from.
The cuff is designed to allow for comfortable yet stable closure while providing excellent ankle support.
Liner
Particular attention has been paid to the liner. Careful selection of materials, liner design, and shell design have been combined to ensure excellent breathability. All liners are built on a last to obtain anatomically correct shape that is unequaled in in-line skates.
F.I.T. system
The F.I.T. System, Floating Integrated Tongue, consists of a liner with a special tongue that floats forward and back with the movement of the leg. They are asymmetric, which means that there is a right and a left just like your legs, and molded to fit the anatomical structure of the shinbone.
This greatly reduces the pressure point in the front of the shin and allows you to maintain a lighter closure without discomfort. A tighter skate means better control. No discomfort means more fun and less fatigue.
A.V.S. System
The A.V.S. System or Anti-Vibration System is an exclusive TECNICA patented feature which is the product of many years of technological evolution. The A.V.S. system that was developed for the skates has produced the first truly suspended skate. The frame is suspended below the shell and allowed to move up and down relative to the Shell. There is a specially formulated elastomer inserted between the shell and the frame. This functions much like the springs in your car's suspension and absorbs most of the road generated vibrations. There are also three towers that rise through the shell. On top of these towers is a floating sole plate that supports the heel of the foot, enhancing comfort like a seat cushion in your car. These elements combine to reduce vibration significantly, thereby reducing fatigue on the leg muscles and improving the ability to control the skate.
The frame
The entire CT line has aluminum frames. These frames have been designed and constructed to provide the maximum resistance to torsion, flex, vibration, and impact while maintaining a minimum in weight. The axles are 8mm aluminum with only one wrench required on the countersunk screw. All frames are laterally adjustable for balance and alignment.
The brake
TECNICA skates have a normal heel brake with a rubber pad. The brake can be mounted on either the left skate or the right.
Bearings
Every wheel is equipped with two ball bearings. Bearings are graded on the ABEC scale which is an indication of the quality of the bearing. The higher the ABEC number the higher the quality. ABEC numbers range from 1 thru 7, odd numbers only.
TECNICA uses only ABEC 5 bearings with a light grease as the lubricant. All bearings are serviceable which means that they can be disassembled and cleaned. Every wheel contains an aluminum self centering bearing spacer.
